Funeral services for Mr. Lucas William Lively Jr., 78, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Journet & Bolden Funeral Home, 711 S. Corinne Street, New Iberia, LA. Bishop Darren Michael Sophus will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be observed from 8 a.m. until time of service. A native of Patoutville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Lively died on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 6:45 p.m. at his residence in New Iberia following a brief illness.

Mr. Lively worked as a farmer for many years, where he later retired. He enjoyed cooking for the family and spending time with family. He was known affectionately as “the dancing machine.”

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Dorothy Mae Dauphine Lively, of New Iberia; two sons Ronald Lively (Debra) of New Iberia and Lucas Lively III (Pansy) of Coteau; three daughters Lois Lively of Erath, Marjorie L. Mallery (Eugene) of New Iberia and Josephine M. Lively of Jeanerette; one brother Joseph Lively; one sister Bernice Lively; 22 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucas Lively Sr. and Agnes Key Lively; two sons Donald Lively and Edward “Eddie” Lively; four brothers Hayes Lively, Frank Lively, Issas Lively and Richmond Lively; and four sisters Marjorie Hensley, Jessie Mae Williams, Mandy Lively and Evelyn Joseph.

The active pallbearers will be Ronald Lively, Lucas Lively III, Trevor Darbiney, Daniel Joseph, Ronald Lively Jr., Perez Lively and Joseph Sam Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Joseph, Harry Joseph, Johnny Sam, Juawaan Hill Sr., Chester Hill, Carl Wayne Lively and Floyd Hill Jr.
