Jeanerette student earns scholarship

The Southern University Alumni Federation New Iberia Alumni Chapter presented Joseph Prejean, a Jeanerette High School graduate, a scholarship to attend Southern University and the A&M College. The awards program was held May 11. Prejean plans to enter university life in the fall of 2018 to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
The Federation’s mission is to support the goals and objectives of the University through recuritment, financial support, public relations, community outreach, talen loyalty, dedication and commitment to the highest standards. Students must meet specific requirement in order to qualify for the scholarship.
The Jeanerette student exceeded all requirements while being active in many activities throughout the school year. While attending Jeanerette Senior High, Prejean was active in many activities such as Literary Rallies, Marching Band, BETA, Talent Search and Upward Bound. He also showed leadership qualities as field captain and drum major for the Purple Marching Machine marching band.
