Stolen firearm, drugs found when NIPD arrests 2 suspects

The New Iberia Police Department arrested a man and a woman and seized several drugs after a search warrant was carried out Wednesday. 

According to a prepared statement, NIPD narcotics agents, detectives and patrol officers executed the warrant on the 500 block of Lombard Street, where they arrested 34-year-old Thomas Francisco of New Iberia. During the search, agents recovered suspected marijuana packaged for sales, paraphernalia used for weighing and packaging narcotics and a stolen firearm, the NIPD said.

Francisco was charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule I controlled dangerous substance; transaction involved proceeds from drug offenses; possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance; possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone; illegal possession of a stolen firearm and obstruction of justice. 

Brittany Broussard, 28, also of New Iberia, was arrested and charged with principal to possess with the intent to distribute a schedule I controlled dangerous substance. 

Both were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail. Francisco’s bond was set at $85,001. 

Broussard’s was set at $35,000.
