Catholic High falls to MC

Affter winning two games and losing on in the Delcambre Tournament over the weekend, the Catholic High Lady Panthers opened the new week with a 25-21, 26-24, 25-20, 25-18 loss to Morgan City Tuesday to fall to 13-10 overall headed into today’s game at Breaux Bridge and Thursday’s Division III, District 2 contest at home against West St. Mary.

Morgan City came into the game hot with an 18-5 record and are fifth seed in the latest, unofficial LHSAA prep volleyball power rankings.

The Lady Panthers were led by Madison Bienvenu with 18 kills and a block while Abigail Richthofen added nine kills and a block and Oakley Guillotte finished with four kills and three aces.

Sydnee Raheem had four blocks; Anna Angelle had 16 assists and three ace and Anna Gonsoulin had 12 assists and three aces.

Individual statistics for Morgan City were not available.

Catholic High entered the week ninth in the Division IV power rankings.

Highland Baptist 3, Westgate 1

Marin Barras led the charge with 13 kills and an ace as Highland Baptist beat Westgate 25-17, 25-12, 17-25, 25-15 in a non-district match Monday.

Mia Mitchell had six kills and three aces; Jasey Roy finished with five kills and two blocks; Molly Touchet had 13 assists and five aces, Cassi Boudreaux had two aces and an assist; Isabelle Breaux had two aces and Ashley Hutchinson had three kills in the win.

Individual statistics for Westgate (6-15) were not provided to The Daily Iberian.

Highland (8-21) fell to Delcambre today in four sets but information from that game was not available at press time.

The Lady Bears play host to ESA Thursday in a Division, V, District 2 contest.

As of Tuesday’s power rankings from the LHSAA, Highland was 18th in Division V while Westgate was 35th in Division II.
