This past Thursday afternoon was all about Highland Baptist Christian School in the heart of New Iberia, as the school’s homecoming parade took off from its campus and traveled down Lewis Street, Parkview Drive and Duperier Avenue.

The dozen or so vehicles hauling decorated trailers with student/athletes, students and adults were met with a warm reception as parents and friends lined up all along the streets of New Iberia Thursday to watch the annual event.

Students were clothed with safari and Hawaiian themed attire, and were clearly enjoying themselves during the procession.

The parade was followed by a pep rally and bonfire at the gym. HBCS students had been wearing special costumes all week in celebration of Homecoming week.

The Homecoming Court was presented at halftime of Friday night’s game and the court included Najah Liggans, Elizabeth Espinoza, Lydia Capritto, Tori Denise, Baylie DeRouen and Blair Abshire.
