High school hoops come to the forefront of the area Saturday as New Iberia Senior High plays host to the fifth annual NISH/TruYou Basketball Hall of Fame games starting at 9 a.m. at the NISH gym.

A total of 10 games will be played Saturday involving teams from the Lafayette-area, Alexandria-area, New Orleans-area and Baton Rouge-area.

Admission to the games is $10 and concessions will be sold.

The games start at 9 a.m. with Comeaux facing off against Alexandria Senior High. 

At 10:15 a.m. Lafayette Christian faces Dutchtown. 

The 11:30 a.m. game features Catholic High playing Rayne. The 12:45 p.m. game has St. Martinville battling Plaquemine.

At 2 p.m., Warren Easton faces DeRidder; at 3:15 p.m. Avoyelles Charter plays Sophie B. Wright; at 4:30 p.m. Lafayette High battles Zachary; at 5:45 p.m. Morgan City takes on Southside; at 7 p.m. Northside plays Abbeville; and the final game of the night at 8:15 p.m. features host NISH taking on David Thibodaux.

The 2018-19 basketball regular season starts with jamborees next week and the first contests for Classes 5A to A can start Monday, Nov. 12. Class B and C schools started their regular season this week.
