Gilbert Schaubert

RYNELLA — A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 24, 2018, at St. Marcellus Catholic Church in Rynella for Gilbert “Johnny” Schaubert, 77, who passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in New Orleans. 

Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. 

Rev. Keith Landry will be the celebrant. 

A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and will continue on Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. 

A Rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Gilbert “Johnny” Schaubert was born on July 13, 1941, to the late Sidney Schaubert Sr. and Gabrielle Rogers Schaubert. He worked in the oilfield most of life, as a welder and truck driver and he loved to fish. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed.  

Mr. Schaubert is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Corida Campbell Schaubert; sons Craig Schaubert, Kevin (Paige) Schaubert, Brent Schaubert and Ryan Pete Schaubert, all of New Iberia; grandchildren Lance (Rachel) Richard, Kimberly Richard, Jayden Schaubert, Kaylen (Jared) Powell, Dillan Schaubert, Tylon Schaubert, Colbren Schaubert, Natalie Schaubert, Cameron Schaubert, Seth Bassett, Tori Moneaux, Sage Schaubert, Bryce Schaubert and Johnny Pete Schaubert; great-grandchildren Alex Richard, Emily Richard, Austin Richard, Genesis Echols, Ace Powell and Aria Powell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Angela Schaubert; grandchildren Brae Schaubert and Braedyn Powell; and siblings Florence Menard, Inez Delahoussaye, LeeDee Migues, Grace Vincent, Ralph Schaubert Sr., E.G. Schaubert, Clifton Schaubert, Whitney Schaubert and Sidney Schaubert Jr. 

Pallbearers are Lance Richard, Jayden Schaubert, Dillan Schaubert, Tylon Schaubert, Colbren Schaubert and Seth Bassett.

Honorary pallbearers are Craig Schaubert, Kevin Schaubert, Brent Schaubert and Ryan Pete Schaubert.
