Early morning fire kills one in Jeanerette

- An early-morning fire in the Four Corners Road area of Jeanerette destroyed a mobile home and killed one man, according to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
Volunteer firefighters fought an early morning blaze Saturday that claimed the life of a man off Four Corners Road near the St. MaryParish-Iberia Parish line.

According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, volunteer firefighters from St. Mary Parish Fire District 11 responded to the fire on Edwards Lane in Jeanerette just after 6 a.m.
The State Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.
According to the fire marshal, the 25-year-old victim was one of three people in the mobile home at the time of the fire. Although all three initially escaped, the victim ran back inside the burning structure to try to save possessions.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
