Land purchase in Loreauville on Iberia Parish School Board agenda

The Iberia Parish School Board will vote to purchase land adjacent to Loreauville High School at tonight’s regular meeting.

The school district has been trying for years to purchase the property that would be used for extra parking. It became available two years ago, but the appraised value of $65,000 was more than the administration was willing to suggest to the board at the time.

A new appraisal of $45,000 was recently made for the property and house, and the administration made a tentative offer of $40,000. The house on the property would be either moved or demolished if approved.

In other business, the board will vote on the substantial completion of Belle Place Elementary School, which is set to open in the fall for the new school year.

The meeting takes place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school board’s administrative office on Jane Street.
