Mallory Clare O’Brien and Nicholas John Talley were united in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Iberia. The officiant of the 6 p.m. ceremony was Rev. Alexander Albert. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Kurt O’Brien of New Iberia. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Talley of New Iberia. The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alva O’Brien of Ethel and Mrs. Leonard Bernard of Brusly and the late Mr. Leonard Bernard. The groom is the grandson of Mr. Floyd Gautreau of New Iberia and the late Mrs. Floyd Gautreau and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willis Talley formerly of St. Martinville.
The bride was escorted by her father and wore an ivory-colored lace Stella York gown adorned with beads and crystals with a chapel length train. For her headpiece, she wore a fingertip veil with a beaded edge. She carried a bouquet of white roses, blue delphiniums, and eucalyptus. Incorporated into the bouquet was a rosary that her late grandfather, Mr. Leonard Bernard, gave to her grandmother on their wedding day in 1954. Tied in the bouquet with white satin ribbon were small frames containing photographs of her late grandfather and her late uncle, Mr. Lee Bellue.
Grace O’Brien, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Allison Talley and Mary Katherine Talley, sisters of the groom, Alaina Talley, sister-in-law of the groom, Shelby Schexnaydre, fiancé of the best man, Taylor Gonsoulin, Sydney Schwing and Jennifer Barousse. Holly Bernard, first cousin of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid.
Adam Talley, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Benjamin Talley, brother of the groom, Matt Gautreau and Gavin Gautreau, first cousins of the groom, Lane Bellue, first cousin of the bride, Jett Pesson, Darion Percle and Brandon Grabert. Serving as ushers were Luke Bernard, first cousin of the bride, Ethan Patrick O’Brien, first cousin of the bride and Shane Schexnaydre, friend of the bride and groom. Ring bearers were Rory Talley, godchild of the groom, and Owen Hebert, godchild of the bride. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Madison Banquet and Reception Centre in Broussard.
The bride and groom are 2014 graduates of Catholic High School of New Iberia. The bride graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Franciscan University in Baton Rouge in 2018. She is employed at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. The groom graduated with a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2018. He is employed by Coastal Bridge Company LLC. Following a honeymoon in Antigua, the couple will reside in Baton Rouge.
