Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Miriam Cunningham Breaux, 91, who passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019, in New Iberia.

Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Jeanerette.

Rev. Keith Landry will be the officiant.

A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday.

A Rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Miriam Cunningham Breaux was born in Houma on March 17, 1928, to the late Ernest and Elizabeth Authement Cunningham. A resident of New Iberia for the past 10 years, she was a longtime resident of Jeanerette. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and worked at the Chamber of Commerce in Jeanerette in her younger years. She was also Branch Manager of People’s Bank in Jeanerette for many years. Mrs. Breaux was an excellent cook; she baked cakes, wedding cakes and made the best lemon meringue pie! She looked forward to her morning coffee at McDonald’s with her Coffee Club and loved going eat out with friends. She was especially fond of Duffy’s hotdogs and Cafe DuMond! She was a road warrior and loved going to the casino and taking bus trips. Mrs. Breaux was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.

She is survived by sons Michael Lancon and wife Charity and Nelson Toups; a daughter, Susan L. Mayer and husband Curtis Mayer Jr.; brother Roy Cunningham and wife Jeanette; sister Iona Rogers; brother-in-law Larry Borel; grandchildren Curtis J. “Trei” Mayer III, Steven Mayer, Sandy Shea, Jeff Lancon, Marinna Landry; and great-grandchildren Sebastian Mayer, Hannah Shea, Matthew Shea, Maxim Mayer, Antonio Landry, Skyler Landry and Khalil Landry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Chris Lancon, sisters Faye Borel, Beulah Moore and Joyce Colletti; a brother, Ray Cunningham; brothers-in-law Jimmy Rogers and Cecil Moore; and three husbands, Albert Warren Lancon, Nelson James Toups Sr. and Wiley Breaux.

Pallbearers will be Curtis J. “Trei” Mayer III, Steven Mayer, Maxim Mayer, Jeff Lancon, Joey Colletti Jr. and Ron Champagne.

Honorary Pallbearers are Sebastian Mayer, Matthew Shea, Joey Colletti III and Cliff Hernandez.
