Polite Nerve

A Home-going celebration will be held for Mr. Polite Nerve, 70, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Simon Jr., officiating.

He will await the resurrection in Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery in Jeanerette.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at the funeral home 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

A resident of Jeanerette, he passed at 8:23 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019, at Iberia Medical Center.

He leaves in God’s care two sons, Earl Williams (Lamonica) of St. Martinville and Stacey Nerve Sr. (Yvonne) of Jeanerette; one daughter, LaWanda Robertson (Delane Sr.) of Jeanerette; six sisters, Carol Nerve, Mattie Nerve and Judy DeLauna, all of Patterson, Lori Nerve and Elsie Lightfoot, both of Franklin, and Maryann Kemp of Verdunville; four brothers, Charlie Lee Nerve Jr. of St. Martinville, Harry (Dianne) Nerve of Franklin, Paul (Michelle) Nerve of Verdunville and David (Janet) Nerve of Patterson; two aunts, Helen Guy of Erath and Sadie Mae Clay of Sorrell; two uncles, Rev. Anderson Clay Sr. of New Iberia and Peter Louis of Franklin; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews; one godchild, Wendell Marks Sr.; and a very dear friend, Earl Hogan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Nerve; one daughter, Arlene M. Williams; his parents, Mary and Charlie Nerve Sr.; one sister, Gladys Nerve; two brothers, Louis Nerve and Henry Nerve; four aunts, Margaret Louis, Lois Granger, Ella Bernard and Violet Gage; paternal grandparents, Polite and Gladys Nerve; maternal grandparents, Henry and Mary Johnson; two uncles, Clarence and Willie Johnson; and two nieces, Tasha and Chardae Nerve.

Active Pallbearers are Germanny Williams, Delane Robertson Sr., Quintrell Fiest, Anderson Clay Jr., Darrell Clay, Stuart Beslin and Chris Charles.

Honorary Pallbearers are Stacey Nerve, Paul Nerve, Harry Nerve, Earl Williams, Charlie Nerve Jr., David Nerve and David Cortez.
