A Home-going celebration will be held for Mrs. Julia Mae Lombard, 87, the former Julia Mae Sheppard at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Fletcher Funeral Home, with Rev. Eric Fondal Sr. officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Edward Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in New Iberia.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.

A resident of New Iberia, she passed at 5:58 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019, at The Carpenter House at St. Joseph Hospice.

She was a former member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Jimmy James Lombard, Kim (Deedra) Sheppard and Murray A. (Holly) Sheppard Sr. all of New Iberia; three daughters, Mary B. Knatt, Bertha G. Williams (Min. Michael) and Cornell Glover (Robert), all of New Iberia; twenty-four grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Wilbert Sheppard Sr. and Bertha Eplote Sheppard; one daughter, Evelyn Darnell Gonsoulin; brothers John Hamilton, Louis Hamilton, Murray Hamilton, Clifton Hamilton, William Sheppard, Paul William Sheppard Jr. and Earl Hamilton; and one sister, Evelyn H. Como.

Active Pallbearers are Brent Raymond, Freddie Antoine Sr., Davrian Williams, Paul Davis, Robert Raymond Sr. and Dorian Sheppard.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy J. Lombard, Freddie Antoine Jr., Kim M. Sheppard, Murray A. Sheppard Sr., Walter B. Gonsoulin Jr., Kenneth Sheppard, Alex Raymond Jr., LaDarrian Bell, Robert Hurst, Michael Williams and Walter Berard.
