The Iberia Parish Council’s Millage Ad Hoc Committee will meet again Wednesday evening to discuss millages that provide for the parish’s drainage facilities and infrastructure.

The committee also will be introducing two new members. Former Iberia Levee, Hurricane and Conservation Board member Pat Broussard and current District 11 Council seat contender Brock Pellerin have applied to serve on the committee, which is studying the parish’s millages and making recommendations to the council for potential changes in the allocations of the taxes.

The committee meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, the weeks when the parish council does not meet. So far the committee has discussed millages for maintenance and operation of the various parish buildings, the parish’s health unit, and the general alimony fund as well as a general overview of the parish’s millage revenue.

Millages are those taxes property owners pay based on the parish assessor’s office assessment of property values in the parish.

The committee meeting will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the parish council meeting room on the fourth floor of the Iberia Parish Courthouse, 300 Iberia St.
