Home Going Celebration will be held for Mr. Wallace Kelly, 95, at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011, at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church, New Iberia, with Rev. Francis L. Davis, officiating.

Dismissal will be on Saturday, January 8, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home.

He will await the resurrection at St. Matthew Cemetery, New Iberia.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday at the church from 4 to 10 p.m. a Musical from 5 – 6 p.m. and visitation resumes on Saturday 7 a.m. until the time of dismissal

A native of Erath and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Kelly passed on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Iberia Medical Center. He was a member of Star Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was a member of Star Pilgrim BC Senior Choir. He also sang at various occasions with his melodist baritone voice. He was also a great speaker. He was a member of the Jubilee Singing Convention for many years. He was also a member of Olive Branch Lodge No. 37 F.A.M; Iberia Chapter No. 33 Royal Arch Masons; Jeff Bowles Commandry No. 4 Knights Templar; R. B. Jones Consistory No. 298; Ghadur Temple No. 161; Earnest Gullet Chapter No. 16 Order of Easter Star; Leah Court No. 24 Heroines of Jericho; and Izella G. Bell Court No. 8 Order of Amaranth and AA Williams Court No. 4 Order of Cyrene.

He leaves in God’s care three sons Kenneth W. Kelly of New Iberia, Kevin T. Kelly (Darlene) of Houston and Jackie L. Kelly also of Houston; four daughters Theresa K. Hicks and Dorothy K. Jones (Allen) of New Iberia, Karen M. Kelly of Lafayette and Lynette K. Gordon of Baton Rouge; and Wayne Sophus was like a son to him; 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He now joins in glory with his wife, Mary Lee Lyons Kelly; two children Glenn Earl Kelly and Gwendolyn Marie Kelly; two grandchildren Jennifer Broussard and Kevin Hicks; one great-great-grandchild Myles Johnson; two sisters Bertha K. Davis LeBlanc and Bessie Simon; three brothers Amos Kelly, Norward Kelly and Howard Kelly.

Active pallbearers will be members of Olive Branch No. 37 Free and Accepted Masons.

Honorary pallbearers will be his children, Kenneth W. Kelly, Kevin T. Kelly, Jackie L. Kelly, Theresa K. Hicks, Dorothy K. Jones, Karen M. Kelly and Lynette K. Gordon and a special son Wayne Sophus.
