Doris Ann Lockett Williams, the daughter of the late Alexander and Hazel Lockett, was born January 28, 1942, in Four Corners. She attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and attended and graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans. She was a retired school teacher for the Orleans Parish School System. She also became a supervisor at Incarnate Word Day Care Center in New Orleans. Peacefully she departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Wife of Ralph Williams. Loving children, Troy (Lisa) and Tory Williams. Sister of Curtis James Lockett (Belinda) of Baton Rouge, Alvin Joseph Lockett (Darla) of New Iberia, Elizabeth Lockett Jackson of Four Corners and the late Alexander Lockett III, Williams James Lockett Sr. and Sedonia Lockett Joseph. Sister-in-law of Clarence Joseph of Four Corners, Richard Williams (Juanita), Charles Williams, Roland Jourdan (Connie) all of New Orleans, Barbara King, Melva Despanza (Sylvester) of Baton Rouge. Also survived by five grandchildren Tory Jr., Tyrik, Taylor, Tyler and Tyrese; two step-grandchildren Lamar Toliver and Williams West Jr.; mother-in-law, Frannie Williams; special daughter-in-law Angell Toliver and Melanie Burl; a number of godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Alexander and Lorenza Lockett; maternal grandparents, Louis and Elizabeth Marks; father-in-law, Raymond Williams; two brothers-in-law Peter Leon Jackson Sr. and Raymond Williams Jr.; two sisters-in-law Ethel Rean Lockett and Patricia Celestine.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, 2120 Jackson Avenue from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. Private burial.
