St. Mary Parish Sheriff patch

FRANKLIN — St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives have started a death investigation after human remains were found Friday in a wooded area 10 miles north of Franklin.

Two hunters made the discovery and notified the SMPSO just before noon on Jan. 8. Deputies and detectives responded to the scene and retrieved the remains.

No further details are available at this time. Additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
