Ethelyn Whitehead

JEANERETTE — Funeral services are scheduled for Mrs. Ethelyn Whitehead, 86, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, Jeanerette, with Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating.

She will await the resurrection at Rising Sun Cemetery, Jeanerette.

A gathering of family and friends will be at the church on Saturday 7 a.m. until time of service.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Whitehead passed on Friday, December 31, 2010, at her residence.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter Maggie W. Paul of Jeanerette; one stepson Donald Whitehead (Corinne) of Denver; one brother Horace Johnson (Linda) of Houston; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Naomi Whitehead of New Orleans; lifelong friends Mona Alexander Rebecca Nathan and Thelma Smith; special daughter Norma Bazar; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She now joins in glory with her husband, Clifford Whitehead; parents, Amos Wilson and Lovenia C. Wilson; brothers Amos Wilson and Samuel Wilson; daughter Catherine Whitehead Jones; brothers-in-law Elton Whitehead and Rev. Preston Whitehead; and sister-in-law Sarah Whitehead.

Active pallbearers will be Quinton Paul, Earl Paul Jr., Brandon Paul, Jordy Gibson, Larry Johnson and Cedric Paul.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lionel Robertson, Darrel Paul, Earl Paul Sr., Clifford Paul, Donald Whitehead, Victor Steele, Henry Whitehead, Troy Peter and the Deacons of First Jerusalem Baptist Church.
