FOGG so appreciative

Published 12:00 am Sunday, January 16, 2011

On behalf of the Friends of George Gros (FOGG) / Be the Match Marrow Registry, I would like to thank all who volunteered and contributed to the success of the recent marrow drives. Because of these efforts 150 more “hero citizens” were added to the pool of potential donors.

Special thanks to the three governing bodies in our parish —  City Council, Parish Council, and Iberia Parish School Board — whose members endorsed this cause and unanimously passed resolutions proclaiming the first week of December as “Marrow Awareness and Donor Registry Week.”  Leading by example, Superintendent Dale Henderson, Principals Tim Rosemond and Mike Bonin and Assistant Principal, Gleacia Morales, all did a cheek swab and entered the donor registry.

The goal of FOGG / Be the Match is to build up the pool of potential donors right here in Acadiana so that when one of our family members, friends, or a fellow citizen need a match it will be available.

Please consider joining the registry to give the gift of life.  FOGG volunteers are available to go to your business, workplace, or school to conduct on-site drives.  For more information or to schedule a drive, call 337-365-2008.
