Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Carl Odell Lovell, 97, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Denton and Rev. David Jeffreys officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 7, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until service time.
A native of Nacogdoches, Texas, and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Lovell died Saturday February 5, 2011, at 7:05 p.m. at Iberia Medical Center.
Mr. Lovell was an avid fisherman and was always dedicated to his family and his Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII attaining the rank of Chief Commissary (AA) (T).
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Carl Ditch and Dr. Paul Gulotta and the entire nursing staff of the fourth floor at Iberia Medical Center for their compassionate and loving care given to their loved one.
Survivors include his wife Bobbie Shows Lovell of New Iberia; daughter, Carla L. Hodge and husband Glenn of New Iberia and their children, Carl Hodge and wife Elizabeth of Lafayette and James Hodge of Ruston, daughter, Carolyn Fischnar and husband Michael of Bandera, Texas, and children, Michael Cunningham, Leslie Araiza and Buddy Day and two sisters, Geraldine Becker and husband Gerald and Dolly Harper both of Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mable Gant Lovell; four brothers, Odus, Otho, Gordon and Albert Lovell and five sisters, Ethel and Estelle Lovell, Bessie Cade, Mabel Chaney and Bertha Teal.
Pallbearers will be Glenn, Carl and James Hodge, Glen LeBlanc, Floyd John Curry and Will Grubbs.
