The Mystic Krewe of Iberians celebrated its 64th Bal Masque Saturday night at the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival Building in City Park.

The Krewe of Iberians celebrated to the theme of “Camelot,” one of the most famous castle and court associated with the legendary King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. Camelot first appeared in 12th-century French romances and eventually came to be described as the fantastic capital of Arthur’s realm and a symbol of the Arthurian world.

Dr. Michael Alvarez, Captain of the Krewe of Iberians, follows the instructions of the previous captain and founder of the Krewe, the late Preston Broussard, to “Keep it Fun.” The Krewe of Iberians is New Iberia’s oldest and largest Krewe boasting 287 members.

The Mystic Krewe of Iberian’s version of Camelot was presented in grand style. Royalty reigning over the ball and pageant were His Majesty Craig Michael Girouard as King Arthur, the 64th King of Iberians and Her Majesty Keri Trotter LeBlanc, as Oueen Guinevere, the 64th Queen of Iberians.

Maids and dukes of The Krewe of Iberians introduced as King Arthur and Queen Guinevere’s Court were Sheila LeBlanc Musso, escorted by Josh Musso, representing Cadbury; Lane Alvarez Cohen escorted by Barry Cohen, representing Winchester; Jodie Miller Pharr escorted by Mark Pharr, representing London.

Other court members introduced were Jennifer Alvarez Milazzo escorted by Eric Milazzo, representing Avalon; Marietta Gaspard Ditch escorted by Christopher Ditch, representing Newport; Gretchen Grisoli Dauterive escorted by Dr. Edward Dauterive III, representing Cornwall.

A highlight of the pageant is when New Iberia’s debutantes are formally presented to society. These debutantes, who are seniors in high school, are daughters and members who have been active in the Krewe. They are by tradition presented in their long white dresses.

The Debutantes of 2011 formally presented to their Royal Majesties were Shelby Kate Babineaux, daughter of Dalton and Michel Babineaux III; Mallory Elizabeth DeRouen, daughter of Dr. Mark and Sandra DeRouen; Rebecca Claire Elias, daughter of Dr. Gerald and Janet Elias Jr., Corinne Ann Falterman, daughter of Dr. James and Cindy Falterman; Anastasiya Gromova, daughter of Ric and Svitlana Patout; Abigail Caitlin Henagan, daughter of Dr. Donald and Kelly Henagan; Mary Frances Hoag, daughter of Elmer “Monty” and Harriet Hoag; Emily Louise Landry, daughter of Edward Sr. and Candice Landry; Natalie Anne Musso, daughter of Mark and Susan Musso; Angelle LaSalle Patout, daughter of Ric Patout and Ginger Barnett; Rachel Elizabeth Pharr, daughter of Amy Lord Pharr and the late David Terrell Pharr; Katherine Alexis Picard, daughter of James and Dawn Picard; Mia Frances Sapienza, daughter of Paul and Carla Sapienza; and Caroline Elizabeth Segura, daughter of Nicole Babineaux.

Following the traditional Grand March of the king, queen, maids, dukes and debutantes, the Sugar Cane festival building was transformed into a ball room where Krewe members and guests enjoyed dancing and socializing.
