On February 27, 2022, a cold drizzly day, I was surprised to witness a unit of the Louisiana National Guard in full field gear marching in an easterly direction on Parkview Avenue in New Iberia.

In my opinion, after observing for some time, this is a very well equipped, professionally trained and an overall robust unit.

My first thought was these young people without doubt are the “cream of the crop” to volunteer the prime part of their lives to serve their fellow humans beings. My second idea, this troop could well be in a Ukrainian neighborhood in the weeks to come.

I am 100 percent convinced whatever conflict these soldiers should encounter it will be dealt with in a swift and satisfactory manner.
