Tammy Clause, 49, of Broussard

One arrest has been made in connection with the death of a 10-month-old infant in Broussard and a toddler who is in critical condition, according to the Broussard Police Department.

Tammy Clause, 49, of Broussard, is facing charges of second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to juveniles.

Broussard police said officers went to an address on E. Third Street regarding a welfare concern Monday evening. Upon contact in the residence, officers reportedly found a 2-year-old toddler and a deceased 10-month-old infant.

As of Tuesday, the toddler is in critical condition at a local hospital, police said.

Investigators arrested Clause, who was identified as the children’s caretaker.
