Although Main Street was closed Sunday afternoon, dozens of people could still be seen walking downtown from one historical site to another as part of the Iberia Preservation Alliance’s annual Beneath the Balconies event.

Event-goers were led by the Bunk Johnson Brazz Band, who guided a full crowd from Shadows-on-the-Teche all the way to Bouligny Plaza for a series of musical vignettes that were strategically placed along the walking path for those attending.

Beneath the Balconies is one of the most unique events that annually takes place in New Iberia, and combines New Iberia’s local musical and theatrical talents and pairs them with historic downtown New Iberia for an unforgettable experience.

Event-goers this year were treated to a number of performances including Iberia Performing Arts League veteran Katelyn Gulotta as well as the cast of the recent children’s production of “Tarzan.”
