New seminarian to spend summer at St. Peter’s

- Seminarian Stephen Melancon will be spending June and July with the St. Peter's Catholic Church community in New Iberia.
St. Peter’s Catholic Church is welcoming a new seminarian to the community this summer.
The church announced Parks native Stephen Melancon will be assigned to the community in June and July.
The 22-year-old was born and raised in Parks and is hte son of Randy and Margaret Melancon. He said his parents raised him in the faith along with his five brothers and two sisters.
Melancon is a high school graduate of John Paul the Great Academy in Lafayette where he graduated in 2018.
Melancon recently completed his fifth year of formation at Notre Dame Theological Seminary in New Orleans. He spent the first four years of formation at St. Joseph Seminary College in Covington where he studied philosophy.
Melancon enjoys hunting and fishing along with reading, cooking and playing sports.
“I hope to get to know you all this summer as I share this summer with you in the parish,” he said.
