Delories “Betty” Edwards, 81, a native and resident of Jeanerette, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until celebration of life at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, 104 10th St., Baldwin. Burial will follow in the St. Peter United Methodist Church Cemetery, 986 St. Peter St., Jeanerette.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories seven sons, Darrell Edwards, Harold Edwards Sr., Sanford Edwards Sr., Wilfred Edwards Jr., Kenneth Edwards Sr., Keith J. Edwards Sr. and Terrence Edwards; four daughters, Sandra E. Lockett, Veronica Edwards, Patricia E. Sereal, LaTonya Edwards; two sisters, Sherry (Pastor) Matthews and Laurie Hardin; forty-nine grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Wilfred Edwards Sr.; son Peterson Mathews Edwards; daughter Sonya Edwards; granddaughter Christen Dorsey; siblings Celestine Mathews, Van B. Mathews and Rose Archangel; and her parents Peterson Sr. and Elizabeth A. Mathews.
