Ray Marie Bonin Douet

Ray Marie Bonin Douet, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the Calcutta House surrounded by her family. She was 83.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family requests visiting hours be observed beginning at 10 a.m. until service time Friday, October 20, 2023, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.

Ray Marie was born on August 10, 1940, in New Iberia and was an only child to the late Evans and Julie Louviere Bonin. She was a devout Catholic who offered many prayers for her family and was always available to lend her ear to those in need.

Her outgoing personality allowed her the gift of striking up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. She enjoyed scrolling through Facebook and being able to see everyone’s photos, talking on the phone and communicating through text messages.

Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the grand fur babies.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Annette D. Sauceda (Lou), Donna Douet and Nicole D. Louviere (Ronnie); seven grandchildren, Ashley Sauceda, Cody Sauceda (Kassie), Drew Sauceda (Marisa), Logan Miranda, Abigail Babineaux, Jake Peters and Jace Peters; and five great-grandchildren, Sy Frederick, Salem Dugas, Kylan Sauceda, Grace Dugas and Seth Dugas Jr.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Louis J. Douet.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and support they received by Dr. George Cousin and staff; Dr. Moses Kitakule and staff; AMG Specialty Hospital and staff; Hospice of Acadiana and the staff of Calcutta House.
