4 Things You Should Do
1. Southern Screen Film Festival – In November, the festival will present four days of film screenings, live music, screenwriting, live podcast, workshops, parties and more for every unique individual to enjoy in Downtown Lafayette. Southern Screen moves beyond traditional film and music festivals, and works to expose the community to the widespread possibilities of storytelling. The festival hosts some of the most interesting and innovative creators from across Louisiana and the globe. Spanning film, television, music, podcasts and emerging media, Southern Screen welcomes professionals who can share knowledge and inspire our Southern Louisiana communities. 2. Camellia Crossing. On Thanksgiving Eve, light up the night sky as you run or walk down Camellia Boulevard for the 20th Annual Camellia Crossing: Acadiana’s Gleaux Run. Your registration fee and the funds you raise will make a direct impact on lives in Acadiana. Start a TEAM with your family, friends and co-workers and discover the difference you can make together. All funds raised stay in Acadiana to fund Miles Perret and its mission to help families fight, survive and live with cancer. Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. Town Square River Ranch. 3. Festival of Words. The 16th annual festival, held live this year in Grand Coteau, is a free festival featuring three award-winning writers. These writers provide a Community Reading on Friday and Writing Workshops on Saturday. Also on Saturday, a Community Stage at Thensted Center is open to all writers and performers. Youth Creative Writing Contest winners read their works and receive awards. Local students circulate through Grand Coteau and Sunset performing “Drive By Poetry,” which are dramatic readings of works by the visiting writers. Friday – Saturday, Nov. 3 – 4. 4. Sounds of the Season. This free Christmas concert by the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra presented by the Iberia Cultural Resources Association, features familiar Christmas songs as well as classical selections. Community Drum Circle with TRINITY
What: The Community Drum Circle is a rhythmic gathering that will have attendees tapping to the beat and celebrating the power of music. This fun musical program is hosted by TRINITY, three musicians in one with their drums. Class participants will learn the origin of the drum, the cultural treasure of the drum, and how to easily play together in a group. Participants are encouraged to bring their own drum.

Nebu
What: NEBU is an R&B / Soul Singer based in Louisiana . Heavily influenced by her Mother’s music collection and song selection it was inevitable that NEBU would become an entertainer. Conservation Club
What: The Conservation Club at Moncus Park provides an outlet for environmental enthusiasts to lend an extra set of hands in preserving Moncus Park’s natural assets. Club members will learn from and work alongside key team members and community experts, building lasting relationships and increasing knowledge about park ecosystems and operations.
