Published 9:30 am Friday, April 12, 2024
I am writing to support the various tax proposals on the ballot for April 27th.
Want to sleep well at night? Want to feel safer?
Sheriff Romero needs to pay competitive salaries to attract qualified men and women on the streets to protect and serve in Iberia Parish law enforcement. Our safety is paramount.
Just facts: Parish Govt needs money to fund. Tax proposition for Roads.
Why? Roads & Bridges are hazardous from lack of infrastructure maintenance. $275k a year is not enough to maintain 400 miles of roads.
Where? Only roads in unincorporated area of parish will be repaired.
Who can Vote? Only voters who live in unincorporated areas of parish are eligible to vote to improve the roads where they live.
Ultimate outcome?
4.8 million annually for ten years dedicated for sole purpose of road safety/improvement.
What is in it for the voters?
Better roads are safer roads & attractive to new business & industry improving our tax base and providing more jobs.
What will it cost?
7.70% sales tax is current rate! Less than New Iberia city sales tax. Proposed .075 increase $0.75 (less than penny per dollar) or 75 cents per $100 dollars
When? April 27 is election.
