HOW TO MAKE A MUFFIN
By: Collins St. Martin
If you want to make a muffin,
First, you need a jar of juice,
And a pickle and a peanut,
A marble and a moose,
Then, you add a dozen doorknobs,
And a boy with a balloon.
Plus, the sound of thunder
From last Thursday afternoon.
Then, you mix them
All together
In whatever bowl or pot
You can find.
Oh wait!
That is not it.
I am sorry.
Never mind.
That is the wrong recipe.
It is for a special type of remedy.
And hopefully, it is one
We never have to use
Because it does not look like fun.
Congratulations to the 2024 Books Along the Teche Literary Festival Poetry Contest winners. Students in grades fourth through sixth were invited to participate by local schools. Judges based their decision on work that reflected the theme: “Sweet Reads” and a rubric for assessment included content, originality, rhythm, voice, and conventions of print. Sponsors of the contest include the Books Along the Teche Literary Festival, The Daily Iberian, Acadiana Lifestyle and the Iberia Parish Library.
