A broken air conditioner at the Sugar Cane Festival Building almost put a New Iberia dance in jeopardy until Iberia Parish President Larry Richard and Parish Council members Warren Gachassin and James Trahan stepped in to help.
One of the two 50-ton air conditioning units at the Sugar Cane Festival Building went out as dance recital season is in full swing, so after parish officials heard about the issue they immediately stepped up.
“We came up with a remedy,” Councilman Warren Gachassin said. “We were able to get a temporary unit in place for the month.”
For parents and children working hard during dance recital season, the outcome could have been disastrous. The A/C unit is in the process of being repaired, and those involved in dance events at the Sugar Cane Festival Building showed their gratitude on social media after the temporary fix finally came in.
