James David Warren Jr., 90, of New Iberia, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024.
A visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2514 Old Jeanerette Road, New Iberia, Louisiana 70563. A Rosary was recited at 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. James was laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery, 949 Menard St., Thibodaux, LA 70301.
Born in Sayre, Oklahoma to Ethel Upchurch Warren and James Warren Sr., James lived a life marked by service, curiosity and love for his family.
James proudly served in the United States Army for two years and was later called back to serve during the Berlin Crisis, receiving an honorable discharge. His dedication to his country was matched by his passion for working on cars and his love of tinkering. An avid reader, James found joy in exploring new worlds through books. He worked for Ashland Chemicals for many many years and after retiring, James and his wife enjoyed traveling around with their camper.
He is survived by his devoted wife Marlene Ponson Warren; his brother Thomas L. Warren (Susan); his sister-in-law Marcella P. Foret; his sister-in-law Janet Ponson; and his cherished nephews and niece Matt Warren, Greg Warren, Ricky Foret, Carroll Ponson Jr. and Stacy Badeaux (Mike).
James was preceded in death by his parents James Warren Sr. and Ethel Upchurch Warren; and his brother-in-law Carroll Ponson Sr.
Pallbearers included Greg Warren, Matt Warren, Mike Badeaux, Ricky Foret, Carroll Ponson Jr. and Pete Citrano.
James David Warren Jr. will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love for family and his unwavering commitment to his country. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
