Jeanerette declares curfew ahead of Hurricane Francine

In anticipation of Hurricane Francine making landfall on Wednesday, Jeanerette Mayor Carrol Bourgeois Jr. has announced a curfew beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 10 between 8 p.m. and lasting until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The curfew will continue for the same period on Wednesday night as well.
According to a press release, this curfew prohibits and/or controls pedestrian and vehicular traffic, except essential emergency vehicles and personnel. The curfew does not apply to anyone going to and from their place of employment for purposes of work or any other critical or essential business activity as specifically defined by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency.
1. All public and private gatherings shall be cancelled or prohibited in non-emergency situations and where possible. In limited circumstances, personal gatherings should be limited to the number of persons in a reasonable household size.
2. Bars will close and Restaurants will no longer serve customers during the curfew.
