In the heart of Erath, Blues Man Seafood and Catering is there – and it keeps bringing people in.

Opened in 2022, the local food truck and boil-and-go was started by Jonathan Martin, a Houma native and Youngsville resident. He also credits his partner, Gina Landry Neil, who has been there since the start.

For his whole life, Martin was surrounded by the water, and as a charter fisherman, his love for seafood made it easy to open Blues Man Seafood and Catering.

Located at 126 Old Railroad Road in Erath, Blues Man Seafood and Catering takes Martin’s past experiences in fishing and hunting, and translates it to fresh, local products for its customers.

Blues Man Seafood and Catering are open from Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch, and re-opens from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Martin is one of four members of the business.

The names originated from Martin, who said his last few charter boats were called “Blues Man,” as well as his blue marlin fishing, and “The Blues Man” by Hank Williams, Jr. was one of his favorite songs.

“I wanted to do a boil-to-go seafood thing,” Martin said. “We’re in our second seafood season and it’s growing.”

The food truck and boil-and-go offers boiled crawfish, boiled crabs, boiled shrimp, as well a regular menu, consisting of shrimp and fish tacos, fried fish and fried catfish, various baskets, po’-boy sandwiches, fried onion rings, and more.

Martin dedicates Mondays and Tuesdays to secure the daily dishes. Having fresh seafood was important to Martin and the Blues Man Seafood and Catering .

“Everything we do is local and fresh,” Martin said. “Everything from day one.”

The hours are long and hard, and for Martin, and Blues Man Seafood and Catering, the chance to provide good food and even better service is what it’s all about.

“My true enjoyment is to see the pleasure of people’s enjoyment when they see the food,” Martin said. “We go above and beyond for every customer.”

Whatever it takes to please their customers, Blues Man Seafood and Catering goes just that. If they can have each one leave with a smile on their face and full belly, then the work is worth it.

The goal for Blues Man Seafood and Catering is to continue to serve the community of Erath, Martin said.

“I like what we built in Erath, and we’ve become friends with a lot of people,” Martin said. “I would like to see continued growth.”
