Some of his friends know, some are partners in his adventures, others have known Perry Segura for decades by name or reputation, but do not know about his trophy room/house. After an unescorted tour due to a previous engagement for the New Iberia architect and adventurer on the golf course, Segura provided a copy of “Adventures In The Wild,” as told by Cajun Perry Segura. The self-published memoirs of the great hunter, had this to say about the acquisition of prize trophies on display at The Cold Perch camp along the banks of the Bayou Teche.

“Today’s hunter is truly a conservationist. The majority of today’s hunters realize that without true conservation practices that game may not be available for our grandchildren. It is the money that the hunter pays for the privilege of hunting on a particular game ranch or in a foreign country where game is in the wild, which is the assuring factor that will preserve game for the future. In Africa, for instance, in countries where game still roams in their natural habitat, the governments through their fish and game department is controlling the amount of game of each species taken each year. First they now realize that wild game in the many cases is their natural resource, so they are preserving, this natural resource by not allowing destruction of the natural habitat and setting strict regulations in order to control a balance of game population,” Segura said in his book. The rest of the stories are his to tell.
