Letter: Biden infrastructure bill brought billions to Louisiana and not one Republican voted for it

News reports are awash with smiling faces of Republican legislators basking in the glow of the funds they have recently distributed for infrastructure projects.
I wish to thank our local delegation for seeing to it that the Teche area received a fair share of the available funds, but I also wish to mention an important fact that I am yet to see in any of the statements by elected officials.
That fact is that the money soon to be lavished on Louisiana is largely from President Biden’s bi-partisan infrastructure bill which was passed without the support of any Louisiana representative in Washington.
That’s right. The Biden Infrastructure bill guaranteed funding for Louisiana is $4.8 billion for roads, one billion for bridges, $470 million for public transportation, $580 million for water systems and $380 million for airports, broadband and electric vehicle charging stations and not one Republican from Louisiana voted for it.
My advice to my fellow Louisianans is twofold: remember the Biden Administration made the money possible when you’re enjoying the better roads and the new bridge in Lake Charles and don’t get between a Republican official and a TV microphone at the ribbon cuttings. You might get hurt in the stampede.
