Holiday murder-suicide involves New Iberia resident

Thanksgiving Day got off to a tragic start as St. Martin and Iberia Parish sheriff offices quickly brought a murder-suicide case to a resolution.
Early Thanksgiving Day morning, at approximately 2:44 a.m., deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in reference to a deceased female located in the parking lot of a business in the 1100 block of Evangeline Thruway in Broussard.
Deputies subsequently identified the victim as Misti Romero, 40, of Youngsville.
During the course of the investigation, deputies were notified that the suspect, who was identified as Andrew DeRouen, 54, of New Iberia, was deceased at a New Iberia residence as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation remains ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
