Jeanerette trick-or-treaters braved the Thursday evening rain and headed to Jeanerette City Park for a truck or treat to celebrate the Halloween holiday.
Put on by Terri Thompson, the City of Jeanerette and several local volunteers, the event was originally slated for Ward 8 Recreation Center but had its location changed in order to accommodate the rainy weather that impeded trick or treating for many in the area.
Local children dressed in their best Halloween costumes and flocked to the pavilion at Jeanerette City Park, where several volunteers including the Jeanerette Fire Department operated their own trunks to distribute candy.
Children filed in a long line underneath the pavilion while members of the Board of Aldermen served jambalaya to those attending.
Organizer Terri Thompson said there was a good number who showed up for the event despite the rain, and plenty of candy was available for those who attended.
“It’s a very good turnout,” Thompson said.
