After a year in an interim role, Ashlie Spiker will be getting her first full term as Iberia Parish’s tax assessor after winning a hard-fought race against opponents David Groner and Raymond “Shoe-Do” Lewis.

Spiker finished the night with 55% of the vote, or 15,147 Iberia Parish residents voting in Spiker’s favor. Groner came in second place with 25% of the vote, or 6,922 voters. Lewis finished third with 21% of the vote, or 5,723 voters.

The victory will allow Spiker, who has been serving as Iberia Parish tax assessor since the departure of Taylor Barras from the position earlier this year, to take the role after months of campaigning and introducing herself to the community.

In other races, Delcambre Mayor Pam Blakely lost a re-election bid against Christopher “Tipper” Esponge. Blakely finished with 46% of the vote, while Esponge won with 54%.

Delcambre also elected a new chief of police, avoiding a three candidate runoff. Perry Shaw garnered 53% of the vote, or 416 Delcambre voters turning out in his favor. Brady Segura came in second with 31%, and Ivan McIntyre finished with 16%.
