The Iberia Parish School Board will vote to make several changes to school district policy in order to conform with recently passed state legislation at Wednesday’s regular meeting.
Those include a policy to live stream all regular board meetings as well as committee meetings, which the IPSB has already approved and begun with the purchase of streaming technology.
Other changes concern policies around the employment of superintendent, restricting personnel records from public use, forbidding the adoption of policies that would require addressing staff and students with pronouns inconsistent with biological sex and prohibiting teachers from discussions regarding sexual orientation or gender identity in grades K-12.
Other policy votes will include changes to background checks for recruitments and requiring school nurses to receive one hour of training for sickle cell disease.
In other business, the school board will recognize the 2025 Principals of the Year and Assistant Principals of the Year at the meeting, which will choose to award some of the hardest working administrators in the school district.
The board will vote to award a bid for the Delcambre High School gymnasium air conditioning replacement project as well.
The meeting will take place 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school district’s office on Jane Street.
