Linda deGravelle, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished friendships. Linda was the beloved wife of Jimmy deGravelle, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 40 years, filled with mutual love and service. Linda’s unwavering commitment, love and care for Jimmy leaves a beautiful example of Christ’s light in this world, the act of service.

Together, they enjoyed traveling, closely following their favorite sports teams, and spending quality time with family and a big network of friends. Their home was open to many, where fostering relationships with carefree time was a common event, a lost art we often forego in today’s fast paced world. They had a special way of making so many people feel welcomed and building lasting friendships.

Linda and Jimmy’s kindness extended beyond their immediate circle, exemplified by a memorable act of compassion one stormy night. Spotting a stranded foreign student at the Lafayette Regional Airport, the couple brought him to the University of Louisiana, ensured he found and got into his dorm, and stayed in touch to offer continued support. This simple act blossomed into a lifelong friendship with Winston Larboonsarp and his family in Thailand, reflecting Linda’s unwavering generosity and ability to forge lasting connections. Her zeal for life, her love for people, and her capacity to leave the world a better place will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy deGravelle; her parents, Lawrence C., and Lucille LeBourgeois Lampo.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Ducky Pugh, Micky Pugh, Pete Sattler, Joe Pugh, Clay Switzer, and Butch Bourgeois.

The family would like to thank the staff of Maison de Lafayette, Calcutta House and her remarkable caregivers for kindness and care they shared with their loved one, Linda deGravelle.
