Teche Area teams gear up for soccer playoffs

Teche area soccer teams will learn of their playoff seeding and first round pairings when the Louisiana High School Athletic Association releases the boys and girls soccer postseason brackets on Tuesday, January 28.
In girls soccer, New Iberia Senior High (12-7-1) is expected to land the No. 11 seed in Division II. That would put the Yellow Jackets at home in the first round against No. 22 Parkway (11-5-5) of Bossier City. Last year, NISH lost to No. 9 Thibodaux in the Division I first round as a No. 24 seed.
In Division III, No. 21 St. Martinville (9-12-1) is expected to travel to No. 12 Sterlington (8-7-1). No. 23 Erath (5-10-2) will journey to No. 10 St. Michael (4-10-1) in Baton Rouge.
No. 7 Catholic High (12-8-1) will host No. 26 Rapides (6-8-1) in Division IV. No. 11 Episcopal School of Acadiana (8-8-1) will welcome No. 22 Houma Christian (7-11-2) to Cade. No. 18 Highland Baptist (11-5-0) is expected to challenge No. 15 Louise McGehee (9-8-2) in New Orleans.
In the boys soccer brackets, Erath (10-6-1) is projected as the No. 13 seed in Division II where the Bobcats would host No. 20 South Beauregard (12-10-0).
Episcopal School of Acadiana, which finished as runner up to Episcopal-BR last year, is looking at the No. 8 seed in Division IV. The Falcons (8-6-2) should face No. 25 St. Martin’s Episcopal (2-12-0).
At No. 17, Catholic High (5-6-4) would travel to Slidell to tangle with No. 16 Pope John Paul II (13-8-3). No. 30 Highland Baptist (4-12-2) will take on No. 3 Northlake Christian (14-2-2) in Covington.
