BAYOU MARDI GRAS PARADE
When: Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Main Street
What: Experience the magic and revelry of Mardi Gras at a family style Mardi Gras celebration on the banks of the Bayou Teche on Main Street in New Iberia.
BAYOU TECHE: A BRIEF ENVIRONMENTAL HISTORY
When: Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: 320 E. Main St.
What: Dr. Shane Bernard, author of Teche: A History of Louisiana’s Most Famous Bayou, will discuss the environmental history of the Bayou Teche, the vital waterway that connects New Iberia to the world. The free program will be followed by a light reception and book signing by the author.
AUTHOR TALK WITH TERYSA RIDGEWAY
When: Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, 1:30 p.m.
Where: Iberia Parish Library Main Branch, 445 E. Main St.
What: Terysa Ridgeway tells her story about being a woman in STEM and an author. With degrees in computer science and mathematics, she is also the author of the children’s book series “Terysa Solves It.” Terysa is a technical program manager at Google. Before that she was a rocket scientist developing code for Exoatmospheric Spacecraft.
