Jeanerette– Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Hilius P. Verret, age 89, on Saturday, February, 1, 2025 at Beau Pre’ Mausoleum Chapel at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Entombment will follow at Beau Pre’ Mausoleum

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 p.m.

A resident of Jeanerette, Hillius Verret, passed away at his residence on January 27, 2025. He was born in Adeline to Paul and Georgine Durocher Verret on June 1, 1935,

Hilius Verret, a devoted family man, passed away at the age of [insert age] in Jeanerette, Louisiana. Known for his unwavering love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Hilius cherished every moment spent with them. His dedication extended beyond family life into a successful career at Shell Oil Company, where he proudly served for over 40 years, finding joy and fulfillment in his work.

In addition to his professional achievements, Hilius was an avid gardener with a remarkable green thumb, delighting in cultivating flowers that he lovingly shared with his beloved wife of 66 years, Regina. Together, they played pivotal roles in their community, particularly in Jeanerette, where they were instrumental in organizing Sheriff’s League Baseball Teams and actively contributed to the establishment of various sporting events and civic organizations. Hilius Verret’s legacy of love, dedication, and community service will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Hilius is survived by his wife of 66 years, Regina Songne Verret; children, Wanda Choate (Darrell), Juanita Good, Karen Verret (Dennis), Glenn Verret (Crystal); 15 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Georgine Durocher Verret, siblings, Mercedes Verret, Bella Verret; great-grandchildren, Webb Choate, and Sawyer Choate.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Dustun Verret, Trake Verret, Wesley Choate, Ryan Hebert, Glenn Verret, and Bart Savoy.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Dennis Verret and Darrell Choate.

The family would like to thank some very special and kind individuals who loving cared for Hilius during his time of need, Wanda Daurbigny, Darrell Choate, Monda August, and Hospice of Acadiana.
