Shadows-on-the-Teche will be hosting a screening of a documentary that covers the damage and recovery of Hurricane Ida in Louisiana.
“Resurgence: From Ida to Recovery” follows Hurricane Ida through the eyes of those in Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle, and features stories from residents, government officials, community leaders and meteorologists, according to a prepared statement. The documentary was produced by Nicholls State University with a grant from the Bayou Community Foundation’s Bayou Recovery Fund for Hurricane Ida Relief.
”As the fifth-largest storm ever to hit the United States and with max wind speeds of 150 mph, the Category 4 hurricane made landfall on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, bringing devastating winds and storm surge to Louisiana’s coastal regions,” according to the statement. “Ida is the second most-damaging hurricane to hit Louisiana since Katrina in 2005.”
John Doucet, PH.D., Dean of the College of Sciences and Technology and McIlhenny professor of human and environmental genetics at Nicholls will be present at the event and will take questions during the Q&A portion.
The program starts at 6 p.m. at the Shadows’ Visitors Center.
