Aline’s Amazing Lemonade Stand to return to New Iberia

What started as a way for a young girl to sell lemonade in the Briarwood Subdivision has turned into one of the most exciting spring events in New Iberia.

Aline’s Amazing Lemonade Stand, which has been put on annually by Aline Gachassin along with her parents in the Briarwood subdivision, started with a simple idea but has since ballooned into a giant event that now includes live music, train rides and even a ferris wheel.

Aline’s father and Iberia Parish Councilman Warren Gachassin said the fundraiser has raised a total of $30,000 since the family first began in 2017

Plenty of food options will also be available, including fried fish and hush puppies from Waste Connections, red beans and rice from Cleco, pork fingers from Axis and jambalaya from James Trahan.

A performance from the Bunk Johnson Brazz Band will also take place that will include a second line starting at 12:30 p.m.

Other features will include smoothies from Tropical Smoothie, arts and crafts from Chick-Fil-A and a ferris wheel for the first time. Of course, Aline’s amazing lemonade will also be part of the fun.

This money raised for this year’s event will be donated to the Iberia Mental Health Initiative. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12 at 809 Briarwood Dr.
