Breaux Bridge edges DHS in finals

DELCAMBRE — The Breaux Bridge Lady Tigers held off Delcambre in the finals of the Delcambre High School Lady Panther Volleyball Tournament Saturday, winning 25-23, 25-15 to claim the tournament title.
Breaux Bridge and Houma Christian won the two pools, but Houma Christian was unable to stay for the finals so Pool A runner-up Delcambre faced BBHS in the finals.
Delcambre, Houma Christian, Franklin, West St. Mary and Berwick were in Pool A.
Pool B included Breaux Bridge, North Vermilion, Northside Christian and Westgate.
The tournament was played in the high school and junior high gymnasiums.
In Pool A games, Houma Christian beat Delcambre 25-11, 25-20; Berwick beat Franklin 25-20, 25-22; Houma Christian beat West St. Mary 25-16, 25-20; Houma Christian beat Berwick 25-18, 25-12; Delcambre beat Berwick 25-20, 19-25, 15-11; Houma Christian beat Franklin 25-15, 25-18; West St. Mary beat Franklin 17-25, 25-21, 15-12; Berwick beat West St. Mary 22-25, 25-23, 15-7; Delcambre beat Franklin 25-10, 25-22; and Delcambre beat West St. Mary 25-17, 16-25, 15-3.
In Pool B, North Vermilion beat Northside Christian 12-25, 25-21, 15-13; Westgate beat North Vermilion 25-27, 25-20, 15-8; Breaux Bridge beat Northside Christian 25-11, 25-10; Breaux Bridge beat North Vermilion 26-24, 25-9; Westgate beat Northside Christian 25-18, 25-21; and Breaux Bridge beat Westgate.
Delcambre returns to action today at Central Catholic with junior varsity at 4 p.m. and varsity to follow. Westgate plays host to St. Martinville in a District 2-4A match today starting with JV at 4 p.m. Franklin plays host to Vandebilt Catholic in a District 5-3A match today. West St. Mary plays host to Iota in a District 1-2A match Thursday in freshman, junior varsity and varsity action starting at 4 p.m.
