Taylor Joseph Broussard Jr.

RAYNE — Taylor J. Broussard Jr., 89, passed peacefully in his sleep at his residence in New Iberia.

Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne.

A native of Crowley and graduate of St Michael’s, Mr. Broussard was a disabled veteran who served in the European Theater from Omaha Beach in Normandy, through Northern France, Belgium, the Huguenot Forest and into the Rhineland where he was wounded and was awarded the Bronze Star.

He was employed by CLECO in several communities throughout Louisiana retiring in New Iberia where he pursued his hobby of crafting cypress swings.

Mr. Broussard is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Dorothy Domingue of Rayne; four children: Henry Broussard of Lafayette, Paulette Winegeart of Orlando, Fla., Delores Dugas of Baton Rouge, and Jeffery Broussard of Tasco, Wash.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister Jeanette Hebert of Crowley.

He was born Tuesday, August 22, 1922, in Crowley, son of the late Taylor Joseph Broussard Sr. and the late Zulma Istre Broussard.

The family asks that those wishing to honor his life recognize in their own way their local Hospice and Council on Aging organizations.
