Second round set

Three Teche Area soccer teams will be in action today and two on Wednesday in the second round of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoffs.

Catholic High School will play host to Riverside Academy in a Division III girls’ soccer playoff game at 5 p.m. today. The CHS Lady Panthers are seeded No. 4 in the Division III bracket and the Lady Rebels are 13th. Catholic High beat Bossier 10-0 in the bi-district round, while Riverside edged St. Charles 4-3.

Also today, the Episcopal of Acadiana Lady Falcons travel to Shreveport to face Loyola Prep in a Division III match at 5 p.m. ESA is seeded 10th and beat West Feliciana in a shootout in the first round of the playoffs. No. 7 Loyola beat No. 26 Erath 3-0.

The ESA Falcons travel to Baton Rouge to face Parkview Baptist at 5 p.m. in a boys’ Division III playoff. The 13th-seeded Falcons beat No. 20 Erath 5-2 in the opening round, while Parkview beat No. 29 Abbeville 4-0.

On Wednesday, Catholic High plays host to St. Frederick in a Division III boys’ playoff game at 4 p.m. CHS, seeded third, beat No. 30 Glenmora 5-0 in the first round. No. 14 St. Frederick’s beat No. 19 Dunham 4-0 to open the playoffs.

Also Wednesday, New Iberia Senior High plays host to Parkway at 5:30 p.m. Game time was moved a half-hour earlier than originally scheduled. NISH, seeded eighth in Division I, beat Carencro 2-1 in the first round. Parkway, the No. 9 seed, beat Destrehan 2-1 in its opener.
