Fig Cake

2 cups flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
3 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 pint fig preserves
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Combine flour, cornstarch, soda, salt and spices. Combine eggs, oil, buttermilk, sugar and vanilla. Stir into flour mixture figs and pecans. Pour batter into greased 13×9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
